Our Story
In Puerto Peñasco, during December, January, and February, seasonal job layoffs create significant economic hardship, compounded by unpredictable challenges like border closings, and reduced tourism.
Recognizing this, a group of passionate individuals came together, huddling for a few hours, sharing ideas, and fueling each other's dreams. Their vision, dedication, and belief in the power of community sparked the creation of something truly special. On February 24th, 2024, the Empty Bowls concept was introduced to Puerto Peñasco through an inaugural event, hosted by Renée Shearer at The Turquoise Door in Plaza San Miguel, and provided critical relief during a time of great need.



That magical moment marked the start of a movement—one where love, collaboration, and a shared commitment to bettering our community is at the heart of everything we do. It was a moment of solidarity, and its success showcased our commitment to addressing immediate food insecurity. It laid the foundation for further events, opportunities to partner with local businesses, and support for the local food bank.
